• 1.       Explain science fiction as a “relatively new” literary movement. 
• Science fiction is a "relatively new" literary movement because it wasn't until the 1800's that this form of writing became a common genre for people to read or write about. The reason it "just recently" became relevant is because at the same time this was becoming common, the industrial revolution was beginning to accelerate.
• 2.       Who are some of the authors who were pioneers in the field of science fiction? What technological advances do they “grapple with” in their texts?
• Such authors include names like: Jules Verne, Arthur C. Clarke, and Mary Shelley. One technological advancement that Mary Shelley "grapples with," in her book Frankenstein, is advances in medical science and technology.
• 3.       What is a science romance?
• It's a sub-genre of science fiction started up by Edgar Rice Burroughs John Carter of Mars series in 1912.
• 4.       How did the Industrial Revolution affect the genre of science fiction? 
• First off, with the up bringing of complex machinery to society, it changed what was commonly written about in stories and books in science fiction. Writers went from medical advances and the complexity of the human mind to possible new/future age technology and what good or bad affect it would have on mankind.
